“I came to travel”

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Busting Loose clues just keep showing up everywhere!

Been reading Down the Santa Fe Train and into Mexico written by nineteen year old gal who traveled for 15 months in 1846-47 from Independence, MO through Santa Fe, El Paso, Chihuahua to Matamoras during the Mexican American War. She was the brand new young wife of a veteran Santa Fe trader and kept a journal of her observations and experiences – just amazing insights into the conditions, cultures, customs and lifestyles in New Mexico and Mexico 150 years ago.

Now for Busting Loose part … on page 228 her wagon train is traveling over very rough Mexico roads with an eye out for both Mexican soldiers and indians and has this to say: “Our travels now are made altogether after night on account of the heat. Though it is not very agreeable to me, as my head and stomach are somewhat delicate of late. I came to travel and therefore take it patiently, as a custom of the road.”

A pretty darned good Phase 2 living reactively observation, don’t you think?

Monday the 9th and Wednesday the 11th support

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010
Dear Busters,
We’re on again Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 for the summer 2010 Busting Loose conversation continuation.
Topics will be – So, what are other people in my hologram? What
were those 7 Key Points? And review of the 4 tools of The
Process … or whatever would be most supportive to the gathered
minions in the moment.
Other people, as you may recall, serve three supportive purposes
in your hologram:
1.  They reflect back to you something you think or believe about
yourself.
2.  They provide you with information or data.
3.  They set something in motion
One or more, or all three of the above when you directly
interact with “another person” who is really just you in disguise.
All of the other persons in the hologram are just extras to make
the scene work, feel right, be believable.
Happy August!

Busting Loose according to Twyla Tharpe in The Creative Habit

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

There’s a sentence on page 47 of Twyla Tharpe’s neat book, The Creative Habit, that I got as being very Busting Loose.

“Our ability to grow is directly proportional to an ability to entertain the uncomfortable.”

She just doesn’t describe The Process as a ‘what to do’ with the discomfort like Robert Scheinfeld does, but in reading her book, you really get the power of living reactively in a Phase 2 orientation.

Something profound?

Something profound possibly?

I wonder if I can do 300 words on something profound.

Like, I woke up this morning hearing Monty Python’s Galaxy Song in my mind. “Just remember that you’re standing on a planet that’s evolving, and revolving at 900 miles per hour. And orbiting at 90 miles per second so I recon, the Sun that is the source of all our power.”

And in a Busting Loose context, that was very supportive as to the illusion I live within. And I dimly get the power that it takes to just produce and sustain THAT set of circumstances. And then, in a Busting Loose sense, that what if it really is a hologram at Plank Scale, giving it such seductive touch-ability, smell-ability, see-ability, that – if I am seeing and experiencing it I must be creating it!

I mean, the “I” that is the Player self that is joined-at-the-hip, or conjoined in consciousness with Expanded Self. Conjoined. Too much! I mean, really! CON-joined; joined in grand CON experience called The Human Game. “Conned” into believing we aren’t really creating this whole thing, that “it” is somehow “real.” “Real-er,” more real than ourselves. That “it” is happening TO us rather than THROUGH us.

It’s much more convenient to believe that this all is happening TO us than THROUGH us.  Is convenient the word I’m searching for here? It’s certainly convenient to The Human Game illusion of convincing myself that I’m the opposite of who I really am: infinite, eternal, unlimited. The dual pattern/belief of being-at-the-effect-of something outside myself, not myself, and the hard-to-describe unseperatable relationship (con-joined relationship) with an infinitely powerful, eternal, Expanded Self “driving the bus” at all times. joyfully! Peacefully! In full and complete freedom! In exploration of itself through the Player me in a full-immersion 3-D movie called “The Life And Experiences Of Tom Miles.”

Just the can’t-failed-ness of that image is juicy beyond words.

So … how will Player Tom listen for Expanded Self Inspiration? I almost said “today,” but than realized that there really is no “today.” Just the experience of sequential moments of ever-fleeting “now” in eternity and infinity.

And Infinite is infinite. Cool!

Illusion – Quote by David Bohm

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

I thought this short quote by David Bohm on illusion might be supportive in Busting Loose:

“In the long run, it is far more dangerous to adhere to illusion than to face what the actual fact is.”

Busting Loose: Passion, Inspiration And Gentle Nudges

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

In Busting Loose, Robert talks about after reclaiming *enough* power, moving deeper into Phase 2, and then living in ‘reactive mode’ — acting only on inspiration.

Many, MANY years ago my Al-Anon sponsor said, “You know, Tom, I discovered in working the program that I’ve always wanted my Higher Power (Al-Anon speak for Expanded Self) to talk to me in burning bushes, but It/He/She always just seems use gentle nudges.” He went on to say that this was often a frustration because gentle nudges were too darned easy to ignore, pooh-pooh, or miss all together.

I notice that for some 50 years I’ve been practicing that very Phase 1 conversation. It goes something like, “I know this inspiration  s-e-e-m-s  interesting and exciting … but what if it’s just a passing fancy; what if it’s not really ‘the one;’ it surely doesn’t seem all that important or that would make any difference.” Discomfort. Do The Process!

So … many years later and close to three years of facilitating Busting Loose workshops – doing the process – reclaiming power, it feels like my inspiration illusion still is just out of arms reach in my Human Game illusion. But it also feels like the Phase 1 cloud cover on that one is getting close to being drilled through. Why do I think that?

Because I’m noticing I’m creating a lot of other players / conversations mirroring that back to me, remembering that that I script  other players in my hologram do three things: (1) reflect back to something I am thinking or feeling about myself, (2) provide information or data, and/or (3) set something in motion – thank you, Robert, for the insight and reminder.

And just this morning (it always happens in the morning), ES just popped this into my hologram via the internet, further languaging it very nicely in, “If you think you haven’t found your passion...” by Derek Sivers.

The Readers’ Digest version is, “It’s dangerous to think in terms of  ‘passion’ and ‘purpose’ because they sound like such huge overwhelming things. If you think you haven’t found your passion yet, you’re probably expecting it to be overwhelming. Instead, just notice what excites you and what scares you on a small moment-to-moment level.”

Appreciation … or … Gratitude

Busting Loose – Appreciation or Gratitude?

I’m not sure Robert mentions the distinction between appreciation and gratitude. It’s rather subtle, but then as powerful as the distinction between Phase 1 and Phase 2 is, it too is rather subtle. Let’s see what the dictionary definitions tell us:

grat·i·tude n
a feeling of being thankful to somebody for doing something

ap·pre·ci·a·tion n
1.    a feeling or expression of gratitude
2.    a favorable opinion of something
3.    recognition and liking of something’s qualities
4.    a full understanding of the meaning and importance of something
5.    an increase in value, especially over time

So gratitude is defined as feeling thankful for something, for somebody doing something. And appreciation is defined as a full understanding of the meaning and importance of something, or an increase in value over time.

The distinction I get is that gratitude suggests a passive “power outside,” while appreciation is an active inside job.

And that’s why Robert calls “Appreciation” one of the two major, major tools in Busting Loose. Appreciation of everything and everyone as your Expanded Self’s perfect creation perfectly supporting your growth and expansion into Phase 2 of your totally unique, individual Human Game.

I’d appreciate learning of your thoughts in a comment.

“What do you want to be when you grow up?”

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Busting Loose question: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

I was thinking to myself while walking on the trail one morning about Busting Loose. Just how is it that I somehow create a unique holographic experience in my unique personal Human Game. and how living more into Phase 2 might look and feel?

The following thought popped into my holographic head.

I remember growing up and being asked by relatives and family friends, “And what do YOU want to be when YOU grow up, little boy?” And I even remember asking others folks’ kids that same question. And at one point I even harbored the idea that I was doing them some kind of a favor by helping them focus their thinking on how they were “going to turn out” and what they were going to do with their life. Big favor. R-i-i-i-g-h-t.

And then another thought popped up in direct response: “Wait…..that’s not a supportive question for Busting Loose and living into Phase 2.”

A “right,” or “right-er” question would be, “So … what is it that you just love doing/exploring right now, and how do you allow yourself to do/explore more of that until something else strikes your fancy?”

Seems to me like that’s what living reactively in the moment, from and into inspiration would look and feel like.

And then I “just happened” to create Susan from our first workshop on the trail (coincidence, wink, wink, nudge, nudge) and I had her start this great mutual conversation about how certain things are “working” and “not working,” and if I do The Process on a discomfort and then just leave it alone, is that what I really want? Is that what I’m really supposed to be doing? Even if the thing that is not working, could be improved, and seems like it should be “important” to me – and maybe to “others,” completely forgetting that all those “others” are just reflections of me.

Is it OK to just do The Process and reclaim the power and then just let go? Even if nothing in the hologram is real and it’s completely made up by me – My Consciousness – My Expanded Self?

And the answer that came into my holographic awareness was, “I think that after doing The Process and reclaiming whatever power you can in a given pass, if it’s something you then feel would be fun or exciting, then that would be one “to do.” And if  your “doing” pushes back, it’s only pushing back because that’s the way you want(ed) that particular game or inning or quarter to play out. And maybe it then becomes “Challenging,” “Worthwhile,” “Productive,” “Satisfying” as I remind myself that I (Consciousness, Expanded Self) just made it all up anyway through patterns in The Field.

And any discomfort experienced in any pushing back is “just an Egg” with Power in it saying, “Here’s more of your Power for you to reclaim if you want to in this moment.” And you can then use this new, additionally reclaimed Power to stay on this particular ride a little longer, and/or noticing a next or different ride you feel “inspired” to experience or explore. Hot damn! Busting Loose!

“Adventure” and Busting Loose

Friday, August 21st, 2009

The word ‘adventure’ struck me the other day as being a decent description of the Busting Loose nature of the Phase 2 Journey within The Human Game. So, being a word lover, I looked it up in the dictionary, and here’s what it had to say:

Ad•ven•ture  n (italics added)
1.    an exciting or  extraordinary event or series of events
2.    an undertaking involving  uncertainty and  risk (I first typed frisk, an interesting linguistic slip of some sort, no doubt)
3.    the participation or willingness to participate in things that involve uncertainty and risk
4.    a risky or speculative financial undertaking

And the verb form: to dare to go somewhere new or engage in something dangerous.

Now, I don’t know about you, but as Busting Loose From The Money Game pointed out, a fair amount of my life had been about telling myself that I loved adventure, but thought that I also needed to avoid uncertainty and risk. At least, what I labeled unnecessary uncertainty and risk.

And then I read that Robert pointed out that risk avoidance is what Expanded Self uses in Phase 1 to convince me that I am limited and restricted, the opposite of who and what I truly am: infinite, eternal, limitless, and don’t go there! How cool is that! To have a word like adventure that gently and seductively masks uncertainty and risk and extraordinary and so easily gives us the sense that adventure is just a light frolic. No need to go deep here. That could be dangerous and should be avoided because … who knows what might happen?

In short, when I looked at the dictionary definition of adventure, I got a couple of interesting things. For Phase 1 to work at all, the fear and avoidance of risk and uncertainty was necessary to keep me from getting really clear on the power that I am as Player in my hologame. And that adventure/risk/uncertainty was equally necessary for Phase 2 to be kept interesting and challenging. And that really, Expanded Self is handling everything magnificently.

So that leaves me with Robert’s invitation and challenge to jump through the portal into Phase 2 and just use the tools – use the tools – use the tools, fully experience my experiences and tell the truth, that in all the surprises I am having great fun and being royally entertained with/in my holographic Human Game – adventure!

September Emotions Game Busting Loose Workshop

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

Busting Loose From The Emotions Game Workshop begins Monday evening September 7th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at our home.

Slight change in expression of appreciation – first session is FREE so you can come “kick the illusion’s tires” and get a feeling if this is for you or no. Remaining sessions, and there are 18 in all, will be $15 per session.

Why do this, or any, Busting Loose workshop?

Robert’s body of work, model and tools are just very cool stuff. Since Spring 2007, we’ve hosted 4-5 Money Game and Emotions Game workshops touching just under 100 Players. The nearly 100% feedback we’re getting is:

•  thanks for making these DVDs available to watch and discuss

•  thanks for facilitating and creating a safe space to play and explore in

•  the tools have changed and continue to change the richness of my experience of The Human Game

•  stuff that used to really twist my nickers I now use to reclaim power

•  stuff that used to really twist my nickers somehow just doesn’t do that anymore

•  I find myself focusing and pursuing more of what floats my boat, what inspires me, what is more fun to me

•  it’s really supportive to have a place to be with other Phase 2 Players sharing a similar journey and talking the same language

•  where other spiritual and self help stuff seemed like everyone else was ‘getting it’ and somehow I just wasn’t, this stuff just seems to work

•  it’s very cool to ‘get’ why in Phase 1 that just has to be so perfectly and crazy-makingly so

My experience after two years facilitating the Busting Loose work is that infinite really is becoming infinite. To my personal amazement and amusement I ALWAYS pick up new and supportive insights from watching the DVDs (again and again and …) and from creating workshop Players who say the most amazing and supportive things.

Pat and I marvel at our breakthroughs and cookies and still grumble through some of the eggs – well, OK, maybe through most of the eggs. But there’s always a sense of expansion and often a sense of Expanded Self steering that comes with it or right after it, and that’s just plain different.

So, here is your invitation to come and play and learn how to keep more focus on playing in your hologram with fewer and fewer limitations and restrictions.

Hey, there’s only one of us here anyway; it’s all just you talking to you through the other Players you are creating in your hologram through these workshops. I mean really, who you gonna listen to?

The workshop begins Monday, September 7th from 6 to 8 PM . First one is the FREE exploration experience, and then we begin dancing down the Busting Loose From The Emotions Game road together.

REQUEST: Please reply by email  [tmiles21@comcast.net] or call me on cell 350-8447 to let us know how many seats we’ll need – and if we’ll need to open up a second evening for overflow.
